Professional biography

I studied English Philology at the Universities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and of La Laguna (Spain), where I completed my degree in 1996. I obtained my M.Litt. in English Language from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (1999) and my Master in the teaching of English as a foreign language from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2001). I received my Ph.D. in English Philology from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2002) on the topic ‘Teaching English grammar in the eighteenth century: Ann Fisher’. Since 2003 I have been a member of the research team of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 'Linguistic Variation and Change in English' (Variación y Cambio Lingüístico en Inglés - VARLING). In 2009 I was appointed Temporary Part-time Lecturer in English Language at the Department of Modern Philology at the University of Las Palmas, where I teach English for specific purposes (business and computing science).
